Invested in high-quality, custom-designed sportswear and want it to look bright and flawless for as long as possible? The good news is that sublimated polyester is extremely easy to maintain, but a few important tips will help you maximise its life.

Wash in cool water and tip out. Hot water can gradually affect the polyester fibres. It is best to wash clothes in cool or lukewarm water (up to 30-40°C). Always turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the bright print from rubbing against other garments.

Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach. Sublimated clothing does not require aggressive chemicals. Choose a mild detergent for coloured fabrics. Strictly avoid bleaches, especially those containing chlorine.

Give up fabric softener! This is one of the most important tips. Fabric softeners coat polyester fibres with a thin film that clogs the fabric’s micropores, destroying the fabric’s most important characteristic – its ability to evaporate moisture efficiently.

Dry naturally or at low temperature. The best way to dry sportswear is to hang it up and let it dry naturally. Polyester dries very quickly. If you are using a tumble dryer, select the lowest temperature setting.

Do not compare (or compare very carefully). Polyester is virtually wrinkle-free, so ironing will usually not be necessary. If it is still necessary, iron through a protective cloth and use the lowest temperature of the iron.
